Accomplishments New project

Our organization was set up within the sphere of influence of Western Europe over Roumania at the end of the Ceaucescu era, i.e. the years 1989-1990.
At Geneva we had met a priest and his wife, a nurse, from the village of Clit. They introduced us to Clit, a very poor village of the district of Suceava.
We arrived there, four of us, on the 4th of October 1990 and we have never given up !

Accomplishments

The cheese-factory

During the summer of 1991 the inhabitants of Clit asked us to help them make use of the milk of their cows. We, therefore, undertook the schooling, at the cheese-making school of Moudon, of a young person to become a cheese-maker. We also undertook the construction of a village cheese-factory. This project, which took a long time and proved to be very difficult and very costly, was achieved thanks to a generous gift from ‘la Chaîne du Bonheur’ and the Department for Development and Cooperation of the Swiss Confederation (DDC), and also thanks to a great deal of perseverance.
The construction and equipping took from 1994 to 1997, the production began in February 1997.

The inauguration took place in September 1998. After having worked with a team of male cheese-makers, we trained female cheese-makers In March 2004, the cheese-factory was taken over by a Roumanian, becoming privately owned. Having been adjusted to European standards, it continues to operate under the name of the company we created : « Clit-St-Cergue prodcom srl » and makes dairy products of excellent quality.

  • Building of a house for a needy family as its dwelling was risked collapsing.

  • Renovation of the dispensary : thanks to a generous gift of materials, the dispensary now has running water. We also regularly provide it with medicaments.

Karate

  • Several years ago the sports teacher of Clit set up a club that is now affiliated to Shotokan Karaté-Do Iinternational.

  • For the time being, it is being financed by Amitié-Clit-St-Cergue, which covers all the expenses for the diplomas and the taxes.

  • The aim of this activity : to show the young people and their families that they can develop good qualities and meet other young people in Roumania as well as abroad (perhaps ?).

Support for the young

  • At the kindergarten, installation of a swing and slide by the young people of St-Cergue during a summer camp at Clit of the ‘Altitude Protestant School, later on of a merry-go-round refurbished on the spot.

  • Supply of school furniture, of firewood to the Clit schools, refurbishint and mending of the stoves, of the blackboards, of the class walls.

  • Financial support for school trips, for shows for the children, of cornets of sweets for Christmas.

  • Supply of clothes, toys.

  • Creation of scholarships for talented young people whose families cannot afford to pay for their vocational training. Currently, 18 young people are being sponsored for the duration of their studies by families of St-Cergue and vicinity.

  • Financial support in cases of staggering blows : the catastrophic flood of July 2002, operations, accidents, deaths affecting families that are hard up.

  • Participation in the travel expenses of teachers who do not live in Clit in order to maintain qualified staff in an isolated village.

  • Organisation of artistic activities during the summer holidays.

Meals delivered to homes

Since November 2004, 25 elderly and needy persons have been receiving, twice a week, hot meals prepared by a cook at Clit and taken to them by the young people who receive scholarships. These meals are sponsored by people in Switzerland, at the rate of CHF 15 per month for one year.

New project: internet center

Our dream since year 2000 : a youth centre allowing Clit young people to meet somewhere else that in a pub. A dream almost coming to reality this year… with your help! There will be an internet centre, chess playroom, a library.
CER-CLIT property, under the young's responsability, without tobacco or alcohol !
At the heart of the village!
