  1. How do I use this website?
  2. Read a conversation with my friend about this website.

Also, read #4 and #5 below.

  3. What is LanCraft / BattleLan?
  4. Both programs facilitate the direct connection of peer-to-peer WarCraft 3 multiplayer custom games over the internet without having to connect to a dedicated server. Usually, the host is the one with a fast / powerful computer (at least 512Kb of RAM and 512Kbps internet connection).

LanCraft is a program used by players who want to join people who host WarCraft 3 multiplayer custom games on their computer. Hosts should not be using LanCraft while hosting a game.

BattleLan is a program used by hosts who want to 'spam' their IP address to the clients, so that they may join a WarCraft 3 multiplayer custom game without even having to use LanCraft. This is a good method but usually the host do not know the client's IP address, and it's more tedious than letting the clients use LanCraft

Usage of both together (LanCraft by clients and BattleLan by hosts) seem to work better (better connection if one fails for any reason). But both of them should not be active at the same time on the same computer.

  7. How do I host a game?
  8. Find your global IP address at http://checkip.dyndns.org.

Start up WarCraft III, go to [Options] - [Gameplay] and make sure game port is set to 6112.

    Create a custom LAN game.

Tell others your IP address (If you want a 'private' game),
or Register your game at http://b.1asphost.com/samuelliew/wc_register.asp.

Wait for people to join your game.

  9. How do I join a game?
  10. One person has to host the game.
Copy a host IP address at the home page (http://b.1asphost.com/samuelliew). Paste it into the LanCraft IP box.

Start up WarCraft III, go to [Options] - [Gameplay] and set game port to anything other than the server's port (which is 6112 in 99.9% of the cases).
    You can use 6110.

Go to Local Area Network and that person's game will show up.
(If no games show up, try another game. Get another IP from the main page)

Join the game and wait for the host to start it.

  14. Where do I put the custom maps I downloaded from the internet?

Custom Maps (.w3x/.w3m) have to be put into the Maps/Download directory in your WarCraft 3 folder - the same one the standard maps are in. If you download something direct from Battle.Net, WarCraft will put them there automatically.

If the maps are in a subdirectory of the 'Maps' folder, WarCraft will find it, even if you have to open up 5 seperate folders to getthe map. If they are not, WarCraft cannot 'find' them, and will re-download.
