CompNET > VA DeMolay Competitions Rules and Regulations > Home Run Derby Rules and Regulations

This is a competition designed to allow DeMolays who are not competing in the major sports tournaments to have a little fun on the side. Unlike the two-on-two volleyball and three-on-three basketball tournaments, this competition will only be open to Virginia DeMolays, prospects, and advisors.

What makes this event different from other competitions is that it is set up and executed by active DeMolays. The State Athletics, Competitions, and Ritual Director will appoint officials and referees. The tournament will follow these basic rules:
  1. Each participant will be allowed seven (7) outs.
  2. An "out" is defined as any swing and/or hit that does not result in a home run.
  3. A "home run" is defined as a hit resulting in the ball landing in the area designated as the "home run territory" by the State Director of Athletics, Competitions, and Ritual at Conclave. The ball must hit this territory on the first bounce.
  4. If a tie-breaker is needed to determine a winner, the contestents will compete in a second round or final round.  The contestants will be allowed three (3) outs.
  5. The contestant with the most home runs in the final round wins.
